CURRICULUM OVERVIEW: KINDERGARTEN -
GRADE 5
BIBLE
One of the objectives of Acadia Christian School is to graduate
students with an accurate Christian world view. Bible courses are fundamental
and therefore taught in all grades K-12.
MATH
The Saxon math curriculum is used from K through 5th grade to ensure students
have the appropriate working knowledge of concepts, mathematical vocabulary,
and computation skills at each grade level.
LANGUAGE ARTS
The language arts curriculum includes grammar, spelling, handwriting, and
creative writing. It is designed to enable students to communicate effectively
both in speaking and writing. Grammar, spelling and handwriting criteria are
integrated into all subjects.
READING
The reading curriculum teaches phonetics and word attack skills early in the
primary grades. By reinforcing these abilities throughout the elementary grades
our students are able to use the skill of interpretation, and to read fluently,
with expression and comprehension.
HERITAGE STUDIES
Our history and geography curriculum sets the foundation that God, the author
of time and life, has had a plan for the earth and its people since before
Creation. World History, U.S. History, and geography as well as current events
are included to give the A.C.S. student a balanced world view. At all grade
levels the student is taught his/her responsibility as a Christian citizen.
SCIENCE
Science is one revelation of God's power as Creator.
Acadia Christian School's science curriculum implements nature study, natural
law, experimentation, and other facets of science to show God's perfect order
in His created world.
EXTRA-CURRICULAR
Spanish, art, music/chorus, physical education, computer class, drama, library
plus a wide variety of private instrumental opportunities.
Curriculum used: ABeka, Bob Jones, Saxon and A.C.S.I.
