compose many different types of writing projects. Grammar emphasis is on structure,
rules, analysis, correct spelling and expansion of vocabulary.
MATHEMATICS
The Saxon math curriculum is used 6th through 8th grade to ensure students
have appropriate working knowledge of concepts, mathematical vocabulary and
computation skills.
Grade 6: The Saxon math curriculum used in grade 6 takes the working knowledge of concepts, mathematical vocabulary, and computation skills students have mastered in the elementary grades and puts them to use and practice in greater depth including geometry and pre-algebra.
Grade 7 : Saxon Math 8/7 with Pre algebra is a comprehensive math course achieving the following objectives: 1) To secure arithmetic and basic mathematical computations, reasoning, principles, and processes. 2) To develop on problem solving concepts. 3) To extend and strengthen student's vocabulary of mathematical terms. 4) To develop and stimulate a desire for further studies in mathematics.
Grade 8: Saxon Math Algebra 1/2 focuses on introductory algebra topics. This course helps the student transition from concrete concepts of arithmetic to the abstract concepts of algebra. Upon completion of this course the student will have all the necessary mathematical skills to begin Algebra 1.
BIBLE
One of the objectives of Acadia Christian School is
to graduate students with an accurate Christian world view. Bible courses
are fundamental and therefore taught in all grades K-12. A few of the topics
covered include: Joshua and Judges, Paul's Missionary Journeys, Missionary

By using experimentation, the scientific method, and cooperative group study, students are taught to be good stewards of God's creation.
Grade 7: Life Science is the introductory course to biology. As a survey course it introduces the student to scientific thought and methodology, measurement with the metric system, fundamentals of biochemistry, cell structure and function, classification of living things, and interactions within the organism and the environment of God's world. Basic lab work and data acquisition are emphasized along with proper written and mathematical expression.
Grade 8: Earth and Space Science. This course is divided into the two above portions. Reintroduction to the use of the metric system as a means of measurement in the realm of God's universe is fundamental as well as scientific thought. More careful application of learning techniques and study habits is also emphasized. Areas of study include the universe, solar systems, sun and other stars, asteroids, the atmosphere, weather prediction, rock formations and soils.
